Hello, I'm Katie
My experience as a counselor has varied throughout my time in this profession. I have experience with counseling individuals who have past and current family-related issues, trauma, complex trauma (C-PTSD), depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, life transitions, and grief. My personal style as a counselor is grounded in the perspective of believing that one of the most meaningful things a counselor can do is provide a safe and empathetic space for my clients to process their experiences and feel their emotions authentically. Knowing that your experiences and perspectives shape the world within you and around you, I seek to help you identify the ways this plays out in your life and relationships. Sometimes this results in trigger responses, negative thought-life, and maladaptive behaviors. Getting to the reason behind why these things occur is one of the first steps. From there, I hope to help you build healthy tools to cope with your past experiences, reach acceptance, and navigate your future in a much healthier way.
How can I help?
I utilize a variety of models and therapeutic strategies, tailored to my client’s individual needs, because I believe that counseling is as much of a personal journey as it is clinical. These methods and theories include EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), acceptance and commitment therapy, exposure response prevention, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, emotion focused therapy, psychotherapy, relational therapy, inner-child work and attachment theory.
